Heracles (Herakles), the greatest of the Greek heroes who was famed by the Twelve Labors imposed upon him by King Eurystheus. Upon his death, he ascended to join the ranks of the gods on Olympus, becoming a divine protector of mankind.
Heracles was commanded by the Delphic Oracle to perform twelve labors for King Eurystheus of Mycenae.
